Banner day for stars n stripes.

First day in Gothia cup was priceless as the Boys C started us off with a hard fought 2-1 victory.  Andrew Davidson scored the first goal against a sSwedish team and Nick Sperl put the game away with a late goal.  A late goal by the Swedish team make it interesting but these young boys have a lot of spunk.

My girls were next and although they did not play great they managed a 1-0 victory against Norwegian team with a goal by Whitney Hauslein.  Great field.

The Boys A team had the most difficult assignment as they had to face BK Hacken, the host club and a professional team that won the cup last year in the 18 bracket.  A great crowd gathered and were silent as Greg Yao scored off a corner kick and we held on for a 1-0 smashing victory.  Probably one of the biggest wins in Stars B Stripes history.  The kids rushed the field and it was a great sight.

The night was capped off with a glorious opening ceremony at the Ullevi Stadium with over 50,000 fans singing and cheering.  A 2 hour spectacle that the kids will never forget. a tough day to top but we will try on Tuesday.
